The Grand

A door opens.

I've been given something special.

For one week, I get to live and compose in a beautiful loft in Hamburg — on a Steinway grand you rarely come across.

For anyone who has never heard the name "Steinway": a Steinway is arguably the most famous concert grand in the world — built entirely by hand over many months, and for many pianists the most beautiful thing you can play.

The grand in the loft belongs to the rare "Sunburst" edition. Its finish glows like a sunrise. There are only 69 of them worldwide.

I get to play it for a week. In the morning, when I wake up. At night, when a melody won't leave my head. And somewhere in between, I hope to lose track of time entirely.

At the end of this week, I want to open the door. For you.

The Evening

One room. One grand. 35 people.

A Sunburst cocktail is waiting for you as a welcome — along with one or two little surprises.

A 75-minute concert

And if everything goes the way I hope, you'll be among the first to hear the new pieces that came to life during this week.

Then

We stay together

I'll tell stories from my travels and the places my piano has taken me.

And then

You get to request music

Your favourite song. A song you have a story with. Or something you've always wanted to hear me play. I'll play it by ear — no setlist, no plan. And probably break a sweat doing it. That's exactly what I love about it.

It's the moment when listeners become friends. And a concert becomes an evening people talk about for a long time.
